Compensation
Chalmers & Co represents farmers & landowners in the specialist areas of wayleaves, compulsory purchase and compensation work, including pipelines, road schemes or crop damage. We carry out detailed surveys and negotiations on our clients' behalf.
These services are normally free to our clients as the acquiring body usually pays all professional fees on their behalf. Our everyday involvement with farm and residential markets provide us with up-to-date information needed to carry this out effectively.
We were the principal agents involved on behalf of farmers and homeowners affected by the recently upgraded A1 Expressway and sections before Haddington and beyond Dunbar. Our involvement began six years before the contract was awarded and continued after it opened. As a result, many of our clients have benefited from significant compensation awards in return for having their land compulsorily acquired.
Chalmers & Co compensation negotiation services include:
- All aspects relating to compulsory purchase of land and buildings.
- Preparation of accommodation works schedules.
- Wayleave payments from service utilities.
- Claims for:
- Property Damage /Loss of crop
- Loss of business income
- Disturbance
- Severance and Injurious Affection
