FRANCIS OGILVY BSc MRICS

Francis Ogilvy joined Chalmers & Co in 1996, and purchased the practice in 1999. His work has covered most aspects of estate management, as well as valuing, renting and selling land, buildings, houses and commercial properties. Francis has been heavily involved in negotiating compensation to farmers for road projects and pipeline routes and his special interests are in forestry, renewable energy and property development from agricultural land to residential and commercial uses. His position as board member for the Scottish Rural Property And Business Association (SRPBA) and Chairman of Visit East Lothian provides ample opportunity to have his say in shaping the countryside!
Francis took a degree in Rural Land Management at Cirencester out of a desire to be involved in the development of the countryside. He began his career in Edinburgh with Cluttons, moving to Angus where he was Assistant Factor at Strathmore Estate at Glamis. He now farms at home with contractors, and manages a family estate which includes a conference and tourism enterprise focused on historic Winton House.
